*I want to give all praise to God for increasing me with my new job. I have been seeking new positions at my job for several years now and most of the time I hear nothing back, or I go through the process and interview and then never get the job. Over the last few months I have really been more consistent at checking for job openings weekly and applying. I thought I found the perfect job for me and I applied for it and got interviewed, but found out I did not have experience in some areas of the job and did not hear anything back. I was feeling down about myself for a little while because I completed my education later in life after getting out of the military and feel like I am not really using my degrees in the job I currently had.
Anyway, I remember Mama Dorcas asked us before if we are only going to praise God when things are going good for us, or will we commit to praising and thanking God even when things are not going the way we want. So I reminded myself that the job I had now was a blessing from God and that God has provided for me throughout all of these years. So I committed to being thankful and praising God even if I have to stay in this job forever, because at least I have a job and that alone is a blessing.
Anyway, out of nowhere, a colleague reached out to me and asked if I am happy with the job I have now, or am I looking to try a different job because she was leaving and was looking for someone to fill her position. I have only worked with this lady 2 times on projects and was amazed that she reached out to me. She said if I was interested to send my resume and apply for the job and she would let her boss know because they asked her to provide referrals. I believe this must be God’s doing. Anyway, I applied for the job, did the first interview and didn’t hear anything back for a while, I felt this would be another disappointment, but I committed myself to praising God and being thankful even if I didn’t get the job. Then I started hearing friends at work saying they heard I have a new job, but I had not heard anything. Eventually, I received the call for a 2nd interview and then was offered the job.
I see how God’s hand was in this process and I just had to be faithful and be thankful no matter what happened. I made my requests known to God and even though I didn’t get the 1st job that I thought I really wanted, I believe God picked the job that was best for me.
